Regulations

1. General

  • Gran Fondo Éco events are quality cyclist events offered with a unique formula consisting of timed sections. Up to six timed tests are encountered per proposed course.
  • The unique formula at Gran Fondo Éco gives to cyclists several challenges and this in a same event.
  • Four courses per event are proposed in order to please to all types of cyclists.
  • Gran Fondo Éco events are before all festive and participative events where you can find an atmosphere of friendship.

2. Classification and categoriy of age

Classification is done according to the following age groups (Male/Female)
14-19 years old
20-59 years old
60 years old and over

Each cyclist is individually given its results according tothe cumulative timed sections crossed on the covered circuit. The results are onl based on timed sections. The cumulative of the timed sections determine the rank of each category.

3. Registrations

  • Registrations are made online, on different web window displays of the Gran Fondo Éco events.
  • Registrations are limited to a maximum of 500 cyclists per event in order to respect a convivial atmosphere.
  • Cyclists who are found guilty of doping by a Federation will be refused.
  • Each cyclist has the responsibility to make sure with their doctor that their health, mental and physical condition are appropriate before participating to the events.
  • Gran Fondo Éco cannot be responsible for the physical and mental health for the cyclists who register to events.
  • Each cyclist is responsible to be enough covered by his medical insurance. Gran Fondo Éco can freely decide to offer additional insurances.
  • To participate, cyclists must be 14 years old or more.
  • The participants who are under than 18 years old must be accompanied by their legal guardian or an adult of 18 years old or over.
  • A registration fee cannot be refunded or transferred to another person.
  • The transfer for a future year is authorized provided the registration is for the same person.
  • A written request of the transfer must be made to [email protected] for a minimum of 14 days before the date of the event for which the transfer is asked for.
  • No request of transfer for a future year will be accepted if the request is made after the date of the event or 13 days or less before the event that you would like to replace.
  • No participant will be refunded in case of disqualification.
  • Gran Fondo Éco has the right to prohibit the access and registration to anyone, and this at the complete discretion of the management.

4. Équipement

  • Les vélos avec les équipements suivants sont interdits pour des raisons de sécurité :
  • Vélo avec guidon de triathlon avec ou sans frein.
  • Les cyclistes avec des vélos non sécuritaires se verront refuser le droit de participer à l’événement.
  • Les vélos tandems sont acceptés sur le parcours Piccolo et Medio seulement. Sauf exception.
  • Le port du casque est obligatoire, et ce en tout temps lors de l’événement. Aucune exception ne sera tolérée.
  • Le port du maillot officiel du Gran Fondo Éco est fortement suggéré.

5. Identification of participants

  • The identification plate including the chronological chip must be installed in the front fork on the right side of your cycle with quick fixing ties (tie raps) included in the participant kit.
  • An identification plate not properly fixed can altered time capture and the functioning of the chronological chip.
  • An identification plate not properly fixed does not allow the reading of the time by the system
  • The bracelet must be worn and this during all the events
  • Earphones are not allowed and this during all the events

6. Departure

  • Departure occurs at 8:30 am for the Alto Fondo, 9 :00 am for the Medio Fondo, 9:30 am for the Piccolo and Fund Fondo.
  • All the departure starts from the specified sites of your registration’s confirmation.
  • The access will be refused to cyclists without frame plate number and/or without race bib and/or or without bracelets and/or without  helmet.
  • Each area of departure closes 15 minutes before the planned departure time.
  • The cyclists must depart in the dedicated area of departure of their category
  • The cyclists who arrive late will not be able to have access to the departure of their category.
  • The cyclists who arrive late will be able to take the departure with the following group
  • A cyclist can leave in a departure area situated behind the category where he is registrated, but cannot leave in the departure zone situated in front of the category in which he is registered.
  • The cyclists registered VIP will be placed in front of the peloton assigned to their category.

7. Courses

  • The accumulated times of the timed sections determine the winners of each category.
  • This Italian way of doing allows cyclists to cover the timed tests at their rhythm giving them the chance to gather between friends to cover non-timed sections of the courses, which makes a convivial and unique event.
  • Only the cyclists who will complete their course will be able to know their time and will have access to designated prizes to the winners of each category.
  • Cyclists who accidentally or voluntarily miss a timed section could not have access to their time.
  • If two cyclists have the same total time, the cyclist who will have the best time at the first timed section will win the price attributed in his category.
  • Each protestation regarding the arrival order must be examined and clarified by the director of the event.
  • That decision cannot be called into question. It is the responsibility of all the cyclists to get familiarized with the regulation of the event.
  • It is the responsibility of all the cyclists to get familiarized with the courses, the regulations of the course, with all the landmarks along the course including the supplying areas and the places and the mileage where are found the timed sections.
  • If a participant registered to a given course decides to change for a different course during the event, this participant will not be able to obtain the total achievement time that he has obtained.

7. Inappropriated behaviors

No cyclist must behave in a disrespectful manner towards one or the responsible of the event,director,official,employee,cyclist,volunteer or spectator. No insulting language is tolerated during the event towards one or the responsible of the event, director, official, employee, cyclist, volunteer or spectator. No gesture or action including physical strength or violent gesture will be tolerated during the event towards one or the  responsible of the event, director, official, employee, cyclist volunteer or spectator. Any of these behaviors will lead to the automatic disqualification of the person at fault.

8. Safety rules

  • Cyclists must respect the road safety code, including lights, stops, yields and so on.
  • Offenders risk to be apprehended by the police and/or be disqualified and excluded from the event.
  • No cyclist must make sudden movement that can put in danger other cyclists
  • A cyclist representing a danger for the other participants will be immediately disqualified and excluded from the event.
  • All physical support between cyclists is prohibited.
  • Team vehicles or personal assistance vehicles are prohibited on the course.
  • All the participants who do not respect the stipulated regulations mentioned above will be disqualified from the event.

9. Eco-responsible environment

  • Gran Fundo Éco events are eco-responsible events. Any disrespectful behavior as get rid of gel packaging, energy bar wrappings or others are prohibited and could lead to a complete disqualification from the event.
  • It is forbidden to urinate in public. All disrespectful behavior could lead to a complete disqualification from the event.

10. Prohibited substances

  • Gran Fondo Éco is a clean event without drugs. Any substances which increase the performance are prohibited during the preparation or during the event.
  • Gran Fundo Éco can make anti-doping test before, during and after the event. Any regulation offense of the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) automatically leads to the disqualification of the events organized by Gran Fondo Éco.

11. Risk acceptance

  • Each cyclist who participates to the Gran Fondo Éco events, is doing it with full knowledge of the facts knowing that such an event includes some part of risks.
  • Gran Fundo Éco and its official do not take any responsibility for loss, injury, accident caused by a participant.
  • All the participants to the Gran Fondo Éco must read and sign the documents of risk acceptance and the documents of liability release linked to this event.

12. Insurance for a participative event

  • Gran Fondo Éco is proud to introduce the first insurance for a participative event in Canada. You are registered to one of the 2017-Gran Fondo events, for example the Gran Fondo Éco Cantons-de-L’Est  event occurring on June 4,2017. You have learned that you will not be able to participate to the event because of a major impediment. You just have to send us an e-mail specifying to which 2017-Gran Fondo Éco you would like to transfer your registration and we will transfer it with pleasure.
  • Requirement : you must notify us at the following e-mail : [email protected] 14 days or more before the date of the event you want to transfer your registration.
  • A registration cannot be refunded nor transferred to another person.
  • The transfer for a future year is authorized provided that the registration is at the same person.

In the case the Gran Fondo Éco event you want to transfer your registration is full, we will transfer it for free to the first Gran Fondo Éco event the following year. A written transfer request must be made at [email protected] 14 days minimum before the date of the event for which the transfer is requested.

No request of transfer for a future year will be honored if the request is made at the date of the event or less than 14 days before the event.

13. Cancellation policy

  • A registration cannot be refunded nor transferred to another person.
  • The transfer for a future year is authorized provide it is the same person.
  • In the case the Gran Fondo Écoevent for which you would like to transfer your registration is full, we will transfer you for free to the first Gran Fondo Éco event in the following year.
  • A written transfer request must be made at [email protected] 14 days minimum before the date of the event is requested.
  • No transfer request for a future year will be honored if the request is made following the date of the event or less than 14 days before the event.
  • No participant will be refunded in case of disqualification.
